One Click UpsellThank You Page
Subject to Shopify limitations
Adds to original order
Doesn’t require re-entering payment

Here’s a rundown of how these work:

To make the most of Aftersell’s potential, understanding the functional and strategic differences between these upsell options is imperative.

One click Upsells

  • Display immediately after Checkout but before the Thank You Page.
  • Your customer’s payment information is already saved, allowing them to accept the offer with just one click.
    • This makes it easy to convert, helping you generate extra revenue effortlessly.
  • The upsell is combined with the original order, which means no additional shipping costs or fulfillment steps for your team.- This bundling ensures reduced shipping costs and facilitates easier order tracking for your team.

Thank You Page Upsells

  • Appear on the Thank You Page, which displays after the post-purchase page. This page may also be referred to as the Order Status or Order Confirmation page.
  • Payment information is not saved at this point, since checkout has already been completed. Customers must re-enter their payment details and complete checkout again to accept the offer.
Thank You Page upsells can be configured in one of two ways:
  • Merged with the original order – the upsell is combined with the initial purchase into a single order.
  • Created as a separate order – the upsell generates a second order that is distinct from the original.
When configured as a separate order, if the customer abandons the second checkout, the upsell order remains in Draft status. Additional limitations to consider:
  • Shopify restricts Thank You Page upsells to one product per upsell offer, and all products must be visible across the entire site.
  • Because the checkout phase has ended, customization options for Thank You Pages remain limited, requiring thorough planning.
  • Shopify restrictions mean products used in Thank You Page upsells must always be visible sitewide.
  • Aftersell provides settings to automatically hide already-purchased products to enhance customer alignment and avoid redundancy.
