Adding a Checkout Widget to Your Shopify Checkout

How to customize Shopify checkout with Aftersell widgets, add app blocks like Testimonials, and adjust their position before going live

After creating your first checkout widgets in Aftersell, the next step is to add the widgets in your Shopify checkout.

Step 1: Navigate to Shopify checkout customization page

There are two ways to do this:

1. Navigate to the “Settings” tab in Shopify. Click on “Checkout” in the left hand side navigation. Click “Customize” next to your desired checkout profile.
2. Click on the “Open Shopify Checkout Editor” in the bottom right of the Aftersell checkout editor page.

The first option will give you more granularity on which checkout profile you are editing, whereas the second option will bring you to the live profile version of your checkout. We recommend testing on a draft version first to ensure everything is working as you desire before setting it live.

Step 2: Add an app block

Click “Add app block” in the Shopify checkout customization page.

You will be presented with the different widget options that Aftersell offers. In this example, we will be selecting the Trust Badges Widget.

After selecting your desired widget, select the correct placement and then press save in the top right corner. You may want to consider checking the “Include app block in Shop Pay” option if you want your checkout widgets displaying in the Shop Pay checkout.

Step 3: Change app block position

Drag and drop the app block to your desired location and press save in the top right corner.
