Overview
If your add-on is not showing in the cart, it’s usually due to a product configuration issue in Shopify. This guide covers the most common causes and how to fix them, whether you are using Upcart’s built-in Shipping Protection or a custom product-based add-on. Note: Shipping Protection in Upcart is created as a standard Shopify product, so it follows the same publishing rules and limitations as any other product.1. Inventory Settings
Go to: Shopify Admin > Products > [Your Add-on Product]Track Quantity
If Track quantity is enabled, your product must have at least one available unit in stock.- If inventory is 0, the add-on will not display in the cart.
Continue Selling When Out of Stock
If you want the add-on to be available at all times:- Enable Continue selling when out of stock in Shopify.
- Make sure this option is applied to all variants if your add-on product has more than one.
2. Product Status
Your add-on product must be set to Active in Shopify to appear in Upcart. To check:- Go to Shopify Admin > Products.
- Look at the Status column next to the product name.
- Ensure it is marked as Active, not Draft.
3. Online Store Sales Channel
Your add-on product must be published to the Online Store sales channel. To check:- Go to your product’s admin page.
- In the Publishing section, look for Online Store.
- If it’s missing, click the three dots, then select Manage sales channels.
- Enable Online Store and click Save.
4. Add-on Product Type Limitations
Not all product types are compatible with Upcart add-ons. The following product configurations are not supported:- Products with multiple variants
- Products configured as subscriptions
- Bundles or dynamically generated products from bundle apps
